The dunk is a silhouette that has been created in many different ways, and whether you're a dunk fan or not, it's hard to deny that Nike has almost exhausted the silhouette. However, the Fly Streetwear SB Dunk is a breath of fresh air and one of my favorite spins on the silhouette.
A true SB homage, this collaboration with Chinese skateboarding brand, Fly Streetwear, has a few features that really caught my eye. I love the colorway as well as the embroidered accent, but the reimagined Nike swoosh is the crown jewel of the shoe. This is not Han's first collab with Nike as he also helped design a pair of Janoski's and Blazer's.
"Known as the “Godfather of Chinese Skateboarding,” Jeff Han’s commitment to the culture manifested in a brick-and-mortar shop in Shanghai that transformed the local scene. Since 1999 Fly Streetwear’s been a cornerstone of skateboarding in Greater China by fueling generations with stoke.
The SB Dunk Low Fly Streetwear blooms with nostalgia and promise with a local perennial taking center stage. With colors, art, and details inspired by the abundant gardenia flowers sold by street vendors, the SB Dunk Low Fly Streetwear boasts ornate details throughout its design, including embroidered art, custom insoles adorned with Chinese calligraphy, and a reimagined Swoosh, emulating the fragrant gardenia bundles central to its story."
You can purchase this shoe on the SNKRS app on Saturday, March 25th at 10AM ($120).
